Lilli-Mai Sharphouse

I am currently getting my undergraduate degree in English language and Linguistics at one of the top universities for linguistics in the UK, second only to Oxbridge. I’ve studied language acquisition at both university and A-level so am uniquely skilled to teach language, I know what works and what doesn’t and want to help you see the best results possible.

Our first lesson together I’ll want to go over the basics and get a good understanding of your strong and weak areas in order to help you improve. I want my lessons to feel fun and entertaining to you so I’ll also want to know how you best learn and what you like to do so I can adapt my lessons plans to that.

I would also love to teach kids as the best time to learn a second language is when you’re younger. The best way to encourage language acquisition in children is by doing the same you would when teaching them to speak at all as infants, there’s no need to get into grammar rules like with adults, they instead pick up on it subconsciously like native speakers do. Our lessons would be mainly taught in games, hopefully using media or toys they enjoy to keep them entertained and focused on the lesson.

My overall aim is to help you not only improve drastically but enjoy English as your doing so, can teach at any skill level and everyone is welcome. It’s never too late or too early to start.
