Experience
I have several years of experience tutoring English, Maths and Psychology up to A-level. My grades were amongst the top of my GCSE, A-level and Undergraduate cohorts, and I have helped many others to achieve the same.
Format
I teach lessons remotely over Teams, Zoom or FaceTime. These can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Following an initial meeting with the student and/or their parent(s), I will create lesson plans according to their needs and requirements. I ask that students share with me what they would like to cover in the next lesson at least two working days prior, so that I can plan a lesson accordingly. I am happy to set a specific regular time slot, or arrange lessons flexibly each time. I am happy to work weekends and evenings.
Content and teaching style
The lessons follow the curriculum and the student's needs and learning style, but I will guide students to answer questions rather than them receiving passive instruction. This is based on my understanding of the developmental psychological principles of learning, where students who are guided rather than fed information succeed the most. This method has also worked successfully with many past students. Lessons will involve an interactive powerpoint presentation where we discuss questions and answers together.
Homework
Depending on the student's needs or parent's wishes, I can set homework which can be marked within 5 working days of submission. I can also provide more general guidance on revision strategies across all subjects, and signpost learning resources which have assisted in my own and others' academic success.
