Hi! My name is Kelon and I am a Theoretical Physics graduate from UCL. I specialise in teaching mathematics and physics up to A-level with over a year experience as a secondary school Science tutor and as an academic mentor at university and sixth form.
Having been raised by primary school teachers, patience and care for each student's needs are most important during the learning experience.
My teaching style builds from understanding the student's current skills and tailoring a unique lesson structure to help them consolidate their existing knowledge and fill gaps.
By quizzing my students and expanding into discussions and interactive demonstrations, I create an engaging and effective learning environment.
I find that relating our learning to the real world through analogies is an excellent tool to simplify the most abstract ideas in a subject.
Once a student has a firm grasp of what they need to tackle exams and attain the best grades, I always aim to encourage the student further and inspire a passion for the subject by exploring beyond the curriculum.
As a tutor it is not only my responsibility to ensure my students achieve the best grades but to also foster a love for learning in my subject expertise and any other corner of knowledge they are curious about.
Lessons are typically an hour long provisionally consisting of:
15 minutes of quizzes and active discussion to explore what we know.
30 minutes of engaging and interactive teaching to learn and fill gaps.
10 minutes to consolidate knowledge with questions and quizzes.
As I get to know my students more my lesson structures will change based on what would be best for their learning.
