I customize lessons based on the student's musical interests in order to make obstacles more approachable. My teaching style focuses on experiencing the feelings on the hand while playing the piano. To make the concepts more understandable, I contextualize techniques into everyday scenarios to make them more relatable and use these experiences to guide the student's development of piano technique. When teaching pieces, I serve to unravel the piece of music and highlight the unique qualities of the music, before teaching students how to emphasize these qualities of music.
Having been trained classically for 14 years, I carry strong piano techniques and have create my set of interpretation of these piano techniques contextualized into daily scenarios. I am proficient in different styles, from classical to 20th century.
I have had 2 years of experience in teaching both adults and children and have received great feedback, saying that the lessons are easy to understand because concepts are explained through metaphors and relatable scenarios. My teaching is well structured and systematic, with the aim to facilitate the student in discovering and exploring their interests.
Lessons will involve piano playing and techniques, but also music theory. The balancing of them can be adapted based on the student's abilities. The lessons will be engaging, with the priority being a student's interest in music even when approach a difficult piece of music. I am open to feedback from students on pieces they wish to play and am happy to train for grades as well. I have currently trained grade 2 ABRSM piano.
