Through my online lessons, I will help students with GCSE English content they struggle with or need more support on. As well as teaching content, I will give advice on how to structure the perfect answers for the English exams, including language and literature. Students will learn how to analyse the texts studied in English Literature, such as An Inspector Calls, A Christmas Carol, Macbeth and poetry and how to apply their analysis to their answers. Analysis is a big part of gaining marks for the literature papers, but through my lessons, it will be made possible quickly. At the time near my own GCSE’s, I received grades of 4’s and 5’s in my English language and literature mocks, however within a month, I went up 4 grades and came out with a 7 and an 8. After getting my mock grades, I realised I was revising the wrong way and decided to find a new and better way to revise that worked for me. This included many past papers, active recall and flashcards. I will use the same approach in my online lessons to ensure students will came out with good grades in their real GCSE exams. For example, giving them past questions and papers to complete and marking them so they can improve and teaching them how to revise in an active’ way. For English language, I struggled to revise effectively during my mocks as it wasn’t really possible to make flashcards of content, as English language only consists of language techniques and ensuring you structure your answer in the correct ways. I quickly taught myself how to arrange and organise my answers in time for my real exams. With this skill, I can teach students the proper way to gain top marks in all English language questions. As I completed my GCSE’s only a year ago, I am aware of the way GCSE papers are laid out and how they should be answered.
