As i have been a private tutor for the past years, i have worked on different methods in teaching my lessons and looked out for what is the most efficient and effective way when receiving feedback from students and identifying their progress. I mainly teach my lessons through Microsoft Teams or Skype (whatever is most convenient for the student). I use both Microsoft PowerPoint and Word to show my notes for the lesson for the student to write down and understand whilst I go through it. If concepts are fairly difficult, then I tend to find valuable short videos which I see as effective and include the link in the presentation for the student to watch in order to help them understand the topic. Toward the end of the lesson, i always go through a few past paper questions with the student to help test their understanding and identify if they have taken something out of the lessons and have learned something new. This I believe is highly effective as it helped me a lot as a student during secondary school and sixth form as i believe recapping questions would help build on the understanding of the topic and knowing a good model answer would help in answering related questions to the topic, hence this can boost marks significantly. Before i finish the lesson i always ask the student to summarise the lesson and tell me what they have learned, as this tells us how effective the lesson was and if the student's understanding is sufficient enough to move onto the next topic in the following lesson.
