Depending on what you need, my lessons will follow a structure of 20 minutes covering and going through content (if you are a GCSE student I will ask you to send me this in advance in order to properly prepare) followed by 20 minutes of essay planning and a further 20 minutes covering technique (including source and regular essays). This lesson split will vary depending on what you find most challenging, and can also include time to go over school work; either looking through your essays prior to submitting them, or going over essays that have been returned by your teachers. I will also expect that you plan and write an essay for me once a month, but I will set this at the start of the month and give you the full month to complete it as I understand that balancing a tutor with school can be challenging. These essays will used to assess where you are and what needs working on, as well as keeping the content fresh in your mind and encouraging you to develop good essay technique. Time will be spent looking over example essays and, if you are GCSE stage, it can be spent going over mark schemes to ensure you’re on the track. I have completed my history GCSE and A level and obtained an A grade and will be going on to study Archaeology at Oxford. I love history and will make sure to impart that love on to you, including fun facts and challenges whenever possible. I know that studying in school can be daunting and want my lessons to be a safe and comfortable environment where all questions are welcome and curiosity is encouraged. Studying history and writing essays does not have to be tedious or scary, and I can make sure that it isn’t!
