When it comes to teaching, I like to tailor my approach to the individual, once I understand a learner’s strengths, challenges and motivation for creating art, I can adapt the content to help each individual improve in the most engaging way possible. Everyone’s taste as well as motivation is different, therefor, I make it a priority to genuinely connect with each learner on a creative level, in order to make sure each student is deriving the maximum satisfaction they can from the course, while also pushing themselves creatively and technically.
As a professional artist I understand the pressures and frustrations that come with painting from a first-hand perspective, which enables me to navigate difficult situations by operating from a human level. My strengths as an art teacher are my patience and empathy with each learner, as well as my adaptability to switch between different styles and mediums.
To teach art you have to find a balance between structure and freedom, I do this by creating a social atmosphere in the class, while focusing on task-based objectives. Having taught art courses to every age group from family learning to retirement homes, my classes are for painters of all levels of experience, and all ages.
