I have been playing piano since I was four years old and I have competed in many competitions throughout my piano career. I have achieved the highest grade (grade 10) in the Chinese Musician Association Piano exam in my primary school, and passed ABRSM piano grade 8 during my high school in Scotland.
I have a deep understanding of what is difficult for beginners, and what bad habits will affect a pianist the most. I therefore designed my piano lessons based on my personal experience.
"Playing a wrong note is fine, just correct it next time. Playing a little slow is fine, just practice to get familiar. But your fingering must be correct, your temple must be controlled, your hand must be in correct form." This is my approach to teaching, and I believe that the more fundamental, the more important. I will reform all the bad habits which I have spotted on my students, and make sure that they are able to establish a strong foundation for the piano.
For beginner students, I teach them hand-to-hand from the most basic piano concepts, which include reading musical notation on a piano sheet, how to find the position of the corresponding piano keys, and much more.
For more experienced students, I divide my lessons into two parts. The first part is designed to fortify their piano foundations and improve their musical sense by playing different practice pieces. The second part consists in playing pieces of the piano with a suitable degree of difficulty, which they enjoy, and which will do the students good in developing their sight-reading, temple control, fingering, and much more.
I will also make detailed adjustments depending on the student.
