I have experience working with both primary and secondary school children including SEN students. During my work experience I worked with children from Nursery to Year 6 and gave extra help to children where English is not their first language, as well as SEN students. I also was given the responsibility of marking and correcting work. In secondary school, I was a mentor and in Sixth Form have helped fellow A Level students with English literature and Language before.

I’d like to offer lessons which are comfortable and something to look forward to, with the assurance that my student’s grades will improve. I would like to offer support to students who feel as though they might not be able to pass or improve in English literature/language. I believe that everybody can succeed with some support and guidance, as everybody deserves to pass.

I’d manage this with lessons that cater to the student’s most compatible style of learning. It can be through visual learning; flash cards, drawings, videos or other methods such as essay practise, writing formats etc. I can go out of my way to provide this, in order to deliver and guarantee a growing willingness to learn from the student themselves and perhaps even throughly enjoy the subject as well, rather than them feeling discouraged.

As a secondary school student, I would get good grades for English. My scores would often be from 70-80%. With more effort and revision in Year 11, I managed to get 90% and above and achieved a grade 8 as my GCSE result. A Level English Literature and Language proved to be challenging at times, however my result was a grade B and a grade A for coursework.

I enjoy helping and working with students in general, so I would be glad to be somebody’s tutor!
