I love teaching young kids! They are still excited to learn and want to please. I have taught elementary school for 27 years. It is great to see the spark in a child when they get something you are teaching. I like to make engaging lessons where the students learn as well as have some fun. My lessons will encourage the students to participate in the activities to ensure learning is taking place. I will make sure the students fully understand a concept and feel good about it before moving on to a new concept. We will go over several examples of problems until they get them correct and feel confident in their ability to perform the skill. We will begin by introducing a new skill and practicing it together. Once several problems have been done together, it will be time for independent trying by the student. If there is any misunderstandings or problems that occur I will step in and provide direct instruction to clear up the confusion. Then we will continue with the practice. Once completed, a final check will be done. If the skill can somehow be related to real world concepts, we will do that so the students will understand why knowing the skill is an important life skill and how to use it.

I look forward to working with the students. I love math and hope that love carries over to teaching the kids and helping them feel the same way about math now and in the future!
