Hi, I am an experienced tutor with proven success enhancing students grades and their learning enjoyment. All students are different, I therefore provide a wide range of content and approaches that are adapted over time as students grow and fully engage with their subject.
I find that discussion is key to understanding the strength and weaknesses in students’ knowledge and to identify the direction their study should take to fulfil their potential. Using this approach, I help them achieve the level they require to reach the next challenge they face. This could be university entrance or into the world of work.
Anxiety and uncertainty are part of studying, yet they can reach levels that become a barrier to learning and lead to poor performance in exams and other assessments. I feel my role is to reassure and guide students through this process and directly address any apprehensions that are difficult to express in a classroom environment. Encourage and nurturing learning as they engage with their subject, while hopefully bringing enjoyment to this process.
Monotony in the class room environment can also lead to a lack of enthusiasm that negatively learning. Bringing in additional, engaging content alongside wide-ranging discussion can invigorate and enthuse students and allow them a route to engage effectively with their subject.
I have supported students through UCAS applications, including many successful Oxbridge applications as well as guiding students towards a University suited to their needs and personalities. Personal statements can be particularly hard for young students. A tutor that understands and knows their strengths and weaknesses is invaluable to reduce the uncertainty that all students feel during this process. Having worked in higher education my knowledge of UK higher education institutions and their relative strengths is also valuable resource for both A-level and BA students.
