I use a lot of discussion about other Artists, but, this is student centred study.
we will discuss Artworks all about you favourite or preferred Artworks, be that visual art or even music. I want i know how you have come to these preferences and what is it about them that you like. here we build up a personal repertoire of inspiration. it is personal , and it is potent .
There is a wealth of creativity already with on you.
There will be a bit of history , a bit of play and lateral thought exercises.
I will introduce you to new artists, and discuss historical works and the story behind them .
I will ask you to contextualise your work and place your work within a genre if at a ll possible , and get you to question and examine your motives behind your own compositions. We can examine your process and see if there is a way to maximise output and find a working pattern that suits you .
I also use improvisation sessions and current issues debates to enhance the understanding of placing your work within the framework of todays Art world. Usually the session will have a theory part and an active practical time, a discussion time and a where you can generate ideas to take further for your own expansion.
As a tutor I am also very aware and open to what the student is bringing to the session on a daily basis as that may change and Art is a connected subject so I invite people to share anything they feel pertinent to their working practice on any given date.
This is an exploration so I will also ask you to self guide and give you techniques to gain further ways to produce content.
