Harry Gilson

I am a postgraduate student at the University of Cape Town, majoring in Environmental and Geographical Science.
I have achieved deans merit list in this major thus far, meaning that I am in the top 20% of the class.
Along with that, I won the geography prize in my final year of school, getting 90% for my final exams. I am proficient in weather, geomorphology, social geography as well as archaeology and a multitude of other disciplines within the field.

I am currently a tutor and demonstrator for firs year Environmental and Geographical Science at the University of Cape Town, a task that involves guiding first years through their coursework and practical's.

Being based in Cape Town, and having learnt and taught geographic skills to others, I believe I am positioned to provide an impressive tutoring experience that will hopefully keep you engaged and encourage further development of your geographic skills.

Besides my academics I am a volunteer wildland firefighter in Cape Town, putting my geography knowledge to practical use. I also have professional experience for 2 companies based in Cape Town, one being a consultancy company and the other being an environmental management company. I am from a rural background and have a keen interest in agriculture as well as Urbanisation trends and social geography.

My combination of academic and practical experience means that I can tutor Geography in an exciting and engaging way. Let's start this journey together and find out where it takes us! Hopefully to the top!
