Hannah Luxton

I am based between Essex and London, and am widely available to teach in areas around Cambridge to Chelmsford, Bishop Stortford to Saffron Walden and throughout greater London.

Our lessons will be guided by your interests - subjects and materials you like working with, and artists who inspire you. We will explore these as starting points to develop you as an artist. I will help you tune into what you see and feel about the world around you.

I work with artists preparing portfolios for Foundation or Undergraduate courses, those already in further education or early practising artists looking to improve their abilities, seeking critique and support. For young artists studying A Level and GCSE, I work with you to meet the module requirements for your course.

My lessons are unique to you and your needs. There will be practical exercises in still life or outdoor studies with media of your choice. We will have lots play with materials, techniques and surfaces, and the grounding principles of colour. I specialise in all 2D materials including watercolour, acrylic, oils, graphite, pastels, digital and analogue photography. I provide historical artist references that relate to your artistic interests, to give you entry points into the history of art, and examples of current artists working and exhibiting today. During our sessions we will have dedicated time for reflection and critique, a vital process in learning who you are as an artist.
