I have been interested in geography since I was a child. I can remember getting a vintage globe for my 7th birthday and spending hours examining all of the countries (many of which no longer exist). That early interest contributed to my decision to major in International Relations at Boston University where I gained a deeper understanding of geopolitics. I am now pursuing an MSc in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh which gives me more opportunity to learn even more about European geography!
I am an experienced teacher, having taught swim lessons to people of all ages for over three years. I believe that every student is different and the dynamics of each lesson must be adapted as such. Whether you need assistance with basic geography or advanced subject matter, we will begin with a preliminary assessment to evaluate your base knowledge and learning style. I believe that repetition is one of the best ways to ensure a subject is learned and remembered by students. We don't want to memorize and forget, I want my students to truly understand concepts and retain that information.
Lessons will be a collaborative endeavor. Beginning with a structured lesson or activity, there will be space to ask questions, reflect on the information covered earlier, and review concepts that did not make sense the first time around. Discussion encourages a deeper understanding of concepts than lecturing alone. Asking questions and challenging information is a valuable asset of learning that can be lost in large classes.
