I believe the best way to reinforce information that has been taught is to do practice problems and explaining the WHY of each step. These problems are also helpful if they relate to the real world and connect larger concepts together. If an individual problem is giving a student problems, it likely has to do with a misunderstanding of one of the larger concepts.
I have experience walking through both high school and college students through these issues and also applying them to a real life scenario. I worked in an undergraduate instructional organic chemistry laboratory, where undergrads would conduct experiments and write reports on them. This required not only a theoretical knowledge of the chemistry, but the ability to apply it to the consequences of an experiment. For true knowledge retention, it is not only important to understand what the correct answer is, but WHY that is the case.
My teaching will most likely be on zoom where we will go over problem areas that you are having or more broad overviews of concepts if you are preparing for an AP exam or final. The more context I have for what you want out of the tutoring session, the more productive we can be.
I believe that tutoring should not only answer your questions, but provide you the tools to find the answers yourself, so I will also be suggesting resources to check out outside of tutoring.
