My lessons are interactive. I ask lots of questions, but do not answer them myself. I wait for student responses as I feel this is important feedback that enables me to asses students grasp of the new learning. I focus on all 4 language skills - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I also incorporate thinking skills ie creativity, collaboration, critical thinking etc. I use current authentic materials to teach - newspapers, songs, stories and even welcome suggestions from students. I believe firmly in student ownership and agency. They must own their learning and must be agents of their progress. I as the teacher am there to facilitate their progress. For students to do this they must have a concrete reason for learning- the WHY. This forms the motivation for learning. Once that is determined we collaboratively determine the WHAT (learning content) and the HOW (learning plan)
