I have a plethora of years in experience with teaching English and have found a great deal of success. I’d like to attribute that success to my unique and engaging approach to teaching students, below you can find a basic structure of what the first lesson usually looks like so you know what to expect in advance:
1) Icebreaker activity:
You can expect lessons to begin with a fun and engaging activity that allows students to talk and address any concerns they may have coming into the lesson. This could be a game, a conversation starter, or a short writing exercise.
2) Discussion:
This can be followed by an introduction to a current event or topic of interest and a discussion around it. This encourages students to express their opinions and ideas in English, and provide feedback and correction as needed.
3) Creative writing:
Finally I ask students write a short story or essay related to the topic of discussion, using the new vocabulary and grammar structures. I find this serves as a means to encourage creativity and provide feedback on grammar and sentence structure.
