As a trained and experienced kindergarten and Elementary school teacher with a bachelor's degree in education, inclusive education, and a one Year masters in education,i believe so much in teamwork, discussion where both the learners and teacher will have the opportunity to integrate their knowledge, skills,values and attitudes in new lessons.
From experience, the learner is not a "tabula raza" , she's got a whole lot of potentials. With my help and that of other stakeholders we will unlock these hidden potentials. Hence, my lessons are purely learner-centered. With a learner-centered approach, the learners will play a great role in the teaching -learning process.
I also use the hands-on -minds-on approach for most lessons because there's a great coordination between the hands and mind/cognition. A learner who uses both the mind and hands(to touch and feel the content) learns better than the one who uses just the minds(He can easily forget).
Roleplaying and modelling can't be left out. Learners of the early years are a wonderful set of learners. They learn so well through observation and imitation. Therefore, i must make sure I serve as the role model they consider me to be. I give them the opportunity to roleplay activities, different professions like police, teaching, doctor, engineering and more. This helps the learners to start understanding that they have to put in a lot of effort to accomplish their dream professions. It makes them responsible for their learning, determined and resilient.
In conclusion,i will say, the above approaches, methods and a whole lot put together will produce the best results both on the learners and teachers. This can't be possible without motivation be it intrinsic and extrinsic.
