My lessons typically begin with asking the student what they are looking to achieve and what they are struggling with. Once that has been decided I will create a lesson plan in which I initially teach and explain the topic at hand with interactive activities. The student will then be given a series of tasks that will push the student in a healthy but not demanding way that unlocks information without being demoralisingly hard. There will be a chance for questions at every step, and at each step I will provide help as deemed necessary if requested. No question is a dumb question. For most lessons there will be ‘homework’ given to complete about the topic just taught between lessons, and a consolidation task at the next session. If it is needed we will go over sections and specifics that were not as well understood as others, and make sure to find out the underlying cause of confusion. Then we will tackle the misunderstanding a different way with a different task that stimulates the students understanding from a different perspective with a different type of task. I can also make lesson plans for neurodivergent students who need more creative and specialised teaching styles. They will receive personally tailored lessons in which it completely caters to their personal needs. Interactive tasks will be created, in which students are encouraged to verbalise how they believe they ingest information and knowledge best and attempt to include that in my lesson style as much as possible, while also providing them with structure and clear goals they need to meet.
