I like to make use of the direct teaching style by explaining small or big concepts to ensure the students understand what it is we are discussing. For example if we were discussing Carl Jung's Theory of Architypes, I would explain exactly what an Archetype is before diving into the different kinds of Architypes with examples for them to understand. After the building blocks have been shared I switch to a more discussing teaching style as I want to ensure the students understand the concept, and to obtain a new view from the student. Here the students can ask questions and reinforce their understanding, even if they repeat the same definition I gave them, I want them to give their own definition of the topic to ensure they understand the concept.
Once I feel the students understand the broader concept I like to recommend articles that are linked to the concept at hand. The content will be focusing on the growing field of Psychology and how it branches into many separate sub-fields, as well as how we can use the newly understood Psychology concepts in our day to day lives.
I like to use the SMART objectives to ensure the lesson is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. I do not want the students to feel overwhelmed and that the content is very difficult. I always encourage as much as I can to show students that they can be the best students they can be.
My experience tutoring is rather limited as I usually do private one on one tutoring when I completed my undergrad, yet this is a new tutoring and I would like to experience tutoring a class.
