I like to approach my lessons in a very creative way which involves, besides all the foundations I cover about hands and feet techniques, rudiments, approach to styles of music, and music theory, a personal method that I've developed throughout years of teaching where I take few ideas (could be a rudiment or a sticking) and, together with the student, we explore all the possible ways we can apply those concepts into grooves and fills, with the ultimate goal of creating your own unique voice and style on the instrument! I like to talk about the history of drumming as well as the most influential drummers of the last century that contributed to the music we're all listening to nowadays, with particular attention and analysis of specific songs, styles, and grooves that made those songs or records stand out; last but not least, I will mentor the students with records to listen to (this could be based on the student's preferred style of music) with the ultimate goal of building up a wide music vocabulary, as we all want to play along our favorite music or artist!
Happy Drumming!
