An experienced educator with extensive experience delivering and assessing OCR GCSE and A-Level Computer Science, in addition to the NEA coursework component. Expert in Python programming and examination preparation.
I’m an experienced Head of Computer Science and have taught in both the state and independent school sectors for 14 years. I am passionate about education, especially engaging girls within the tech industry.
I hold a PGCE in secondary education, an MSc in Software Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science/AI. I’ve lectured AI up to MSc level and worked as a Research Associate at Imperial College. During my time at Imperial I wrote AI algorithms to automate the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease at Hammersmith Hospital.
I’m an expert in programming and teaching the OCR GCSE and A-Level. I can advise on the NEA project. Additionally, I can offer tutoring on university admissions and the interview process.
My lessons are always fun, engaging and interactive. I provide specialist differentiation strategies to ensure each pupil achieves their full potential. Additionally, I provide a supportive learning environment where questioning and resilience is encouraged.
Generally, I employ an investigate-apply-consolidate methodology when tutoring. My pupils are asked to explore the topic of learning in advance of weekly sessions. Meaning they arrive with some prior knowledge and questions I’m able to answer throughout the session. This enables me to quickly assess their level of understanding and grasp of a topic so as to dynamically scaffold and differentiate lesson activities. Consolidation takes place during meaningful homework activities.
