I am genuinely interested in teaching Biology, which is the subject of my specialisation to graduate and undergraduate students. I have been involved in teaching various courses in plant, animal and human biology for different levels.
My main objective is to impart the best possible knowledge to my students by utilizing the modern ways of teaching along with highly advanced technology. I try to accomplish this by initiating group discussions and involving the listeners to elicit the best answers which helps them in thorough understanding of the topic under study. I always encourage my students to gain information by browsing through the internet and other means of scientific media so that they are aware of the recent developments in the field of biology. I ensure the practical involvement of my students in the laboratory and field trips in order for them to grasp the knowledge regarding the natural environment around them. I encourage my students from time to time to collect scientific materials from their surrounding and study about plants and animals around them in order to capture their interest. This has helped them search about their collections and make projects individually as well as in teams based on their course. They have learnt effectively and gained a sound foundation of the subject. This practical understanding has developed interest in the students and also enhanced the learning process. I truly love spending time in the laboratory with biological specimens and studying them under the microscope.
I prefer team work as there is always scope for development of new ideas and improvements in the overall work. I have adapted well to different institutes and their various IT systems and softwares such as blackboard. I use my IT skills in preparing my lectures for producing a lasting impression on the minds of the learners. The teaching methods used are student centered and enjoyable along with variety to suit the learning preference for each student. I aim to create a learning by keeping in view that different learners may show different paces of learning. I regularly monitor the progress of students by oral and written quizzes and practical work. My lectures are prepared taking into account the clarity, arrangement and inclusion of the detailed covering of the subject matter with an interesting introduction and a conclusion that conveys the real essence and significance of the topic. I strongly believe that delivery of the topic should be such that it creates a lasting impact on the minds of the listeners. As a teacher I have focused on the overall development of the students which includes mental, physical and aesthetic values and most importantly, preparing the students to achieve success and overcome shortcomings.
