I’ve been tutoring since 2017. I follow a student-centred approach with heavy emphasis on the needs of my students and try to create a healthy relationship with my students so that they can effectively grasp a range of perspectives. I strongly believe in the power of empathy and compassion and I try my best to inculcate that in my lessons.
I’ve been studying Psychology for the last 8 years and I’m quite well-versed with most of the disciplines and approaches in this subject. My lessons are planned in a way that offers students with theoretical knowledge as well as practical understanding of psychological perspectives. During sessions, I will be engaging in conversations with the student in order to develop critical thinking around psychology and its application to the global world by addressing the relevance of culture and other socio-economic factors on human behaviour with close attention to personal experiences. My lessons are based on testing the knowledge of the student through critical analysis and evaluation rather than testing their memory such as names, dates, figures, etc.
Having said that, I appreciate the importance of facts and figures in this subject with respect to examinations and will be helping the student prepare for assessments up to university standards as well.
I strongly believe that every student is smart and intelligent and I wish to create a safe learning space for them to process information holistically and be able to apply their knowledge to understand their own experiences as well as the world around them.
