Deborah in a nutshell
Hi, I'm Debbie, an experienced Tutor who has worked for Randstad Education for years (and I still do) but I want to expand my group of online students. Hi, I'm Debbie, an experienced Tutor who has worked for Randstad Education for years (and I still do) but I want to expand my group of online students. I teach in whatever way suits you best, and my lessons are designed around student-led principles, which means I adapt to your levels and learning requirements.

If you have a learning issue like dyslexia you will find I can help you. I specialize in teaching English as a foreign language, as well as all stages of school (Including GCSE, SQA, A levels, and Scottish Highers and all University levels and subjects in terms of study skills. I also ran a Drama school in Newcastle Upon Tyne for several years and taught Drama to children from ages 5 - up to 18 - some of whom had severe learning disabilities such as Autism, Downes, and various other conditions which meant they lacked confidence, were afraid to speak in front of other people, and I set up a project at a school for difficult pupils where, instead of doing subjects such as English, Geography HIstory ( subjects requiring a lot of written work to express ideas, etc) We put together short ' sketches and 'performances expressing the same ideas - because for some, it was easier to express ideas in an active way, rather than a written way.

I'm proud to say that I've worked with Edinburgh Uni, St Andrews, Abertay, Dundee University. Stirling University, Even the Scottish Association of Marine Science...I love helping people by tutoring since nothing can give more job satisfaction than seeing someone go from worried sick about learning and English, to having that calm disposition where they know they can achieve the results they need.

FINALLY, if you want to learn English as a foreign language. I currently also work privately teaching EFL online to students in Italy, Spain, France, Brazil, Ukraine, Portugal, Germany, and China.

My philosophy about teaching is simple. Don't ever criticize yourself for mistakes when you learn, because. (honestly) Any so-called 'mistakes' are just another step on that learning curve and help us get where we need to be. It's all about learning, and (often) having a fun, confidence-building experience as we go!
