Experienced SQA National 5 and Higher English Tutor

I am a university graduate, receiving a 1st Class Honours in English Literature. After being a student myself, I am aware that everyone learns differently, and it is important that this is catered to. I have been tutoring for over 4 years and have worked with over 45 students, so I have picked up many skills and approaches along the way.

Sometimes students aren't sure what works best for them, so I begin working through the basic elements of the curriculum to gauge the student's strengths and struggles, before moving on to more specific work that targets the areas they are finding difficult. I have a good knowledge of the texts covered throughout the SQA English curriculum, but even if I haven't read it myself I will read and research texts so I can help students to the best of my ability.

I have experience in National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher English which I studied myself, so I am still very aware of the current curriculum and can apply this knowledge to a multitude of needs, including creative essays, textual analysis, and close reading exams.
