In my experience teaching others in the past - both in school and university environments - I usually use presentations to deliver the basic information in order to give an overview of topics, general ideas and themes. Once there is a good understanding of the topic, I usually go into a discussion so as to allow students and listeners to discuss areas they are interested in or do not understand, as well as to form their own ideas, arguments and opinions. This is useful in allowing people to form answers for historical questions, such as essay questions in exams - a necessary skill for history.

I have experience presenting, speaking and planning lessons for both young children and adults. These lessons have always been very well understood and I have received positive feedback in various circumstances. I also have experience being a tour guide in museums so, therefore, I am able to distinguish between "relevant" and "additional" information and I am willing to expand on topics and knowledge if required.
