My strengths are: my empathy towards the different pace, learning styles and strategies that learners use to lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Also I have an ability to reflect and adapt a session in any situation, which in turn has given me effective interpersonal skills in order to deliver a subject effectively. All of which I feel would make me a suitable candidate for this course My future aim is to be part of a team in order to motivate and develop an individual’s learning needs, while giving back to the learners the opportunities and information I gained from my lengthy experience. I also intend to raise learners aspirations, all of which I feel runs parallel with the objectives within coaching and mentoring. I am lucky that due to my role within the charity Plymouth Sports Charity I am able to offer a positive support system to learners who are hoping to achieve their individual goals and worked with a large amount of learners who have required special considerations. I am in charge of my own timetable which allows me to prioritise to my work load and professional development, and because I am a sole trader I am self-motivated to delivery any project objectives I take on. I have a full clean driving license and my own transport. In my everyday life I effectively use Microsoft software which includes PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook alongside the more complicated marketing software of adobe In design. In order to manage staff and projects effectively I have to be organised and therefore focus my time on planning, delivering and reflecting. Within my experiencing of instructing/coaching and teaching both in gym and community environments, primary, secondary, FE and HE institutions; I have planned, delivered and evaluated numerous teaching programs. I ensure I am utilising up to date resources and information that will aid the participants to not only be part of a safe environment, but also be able to become healthy and active outside of the projects. This would also include assessment to the national curriculum guidelines, institutions aims and qualification specification. In order to do this I make sure I am approachable, friendly and model positive behaviour. During my charity member role I have had extensive experience and knowledge on how to create, adapt and review policies. The main subjects being safeguarding and child protection, health and safety in the work place and Quality Assurance. I understand the importance of reviewing these policies to ensure they are up to date with present legislation. From delivering not only teaching and fitness programs to part time lectures, I now feel I am adequately experienced to lecture my choice of qualifications and ready to take on a post graduate course. Due to my aims and philosophy of making learning accessible to all I am choosing to train, coach and mentor students and learners.
