Throughout my experience as a Critical Theory Mentor, funded by my university, I provide sessions that are discussion-led and leave space for creative input. I provide a range of learning materials, including academic reading, podcasts, videos, media, and worksheets, but I am also open for students to bring their own learning material. In fact, the latter is preferred as it is ensured that discussion and application is directly related to the topics that the student is eager to explore further, out of interest or assessment requirement. Whilst I do not provide specific assessment support, the learning, discussion and critical thinking of the tutoring sessions can be applied to complete assessments. The sole focus of my sessions is not on assessments, and this may be a complementary bonus, but instead the focus is to enrich the learning experience, to provide a non-judgemental space to approach psychological and theoretical debates, and to build confidence to discuss topics of interest and relevant to the current climate - enhancing the learning experience within education and beyond.
