Tutoring sessions will begin in the first instance with assessing your competence levels and discussing the areas in which your confidence is low or where your results have been lower than desired. This will be followed be reading and writing tasks designed to further assess competence and create an opportunity to itemise what it is our time will focus on. Every tutoring session will involve improving your written answers in response to stimulus appropriate to the course you are studying and your personal, academic aims. You will always receive your written feedback before the tutoring session so that you can prepare for improvement time. This will help you to refine written responses to exam style questions and tasks. We will also read each session and use carefully chosen extracts from fiction and non-fiction to bolster your resilience to unseen texts, and deepen your understanding of studied texts. You will always have the opportunity to explore what works best for you within the tutoring sessions, and my planning will take into consideration your confidence and overall progress. You can always expect very carefully planned sessions, and attention to detail and a highly personalised program of study.
Tutoring sessions are generally arranged via Google Meets, although I am happy to accommodate most popular platforms and this can be decided in partnership. I use a wide range of interactive tools to help you feel engaged in every session, and ensure there are always take away notes and tasks in order for you to better embed your learning.
