History and German Language Tutor

I am a qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), holding a BA in Modern History and a PGDE in Education. My academic background has provided me with extensive knowledge across a wide range of historical topics, many of which are directly relevant to both the GCSE and A Level History curriculum.

In addition to teaching History, I am also an experienced German language tutor. Having lived in Germany for almost 20 years, I have developed near-native fluency in spoken German and a strong command of written German. This enables me to provide students with both linguistic expertise and valuable cultural insight.

Teaching Approach

Every lesson is tailored to the individual needs of the student. I begin by identifying any areas of difficulty, uncertainty, or topics that require further clarification. These identified needs then form the basis of our lessons.

The pace, content, and focus of each session are adapted to suit the student's learning goals, ability level, and preferred learning style. Whether the objective is exam preparation, improving subject knowledge, developing language skills, or building confidence, lessons are structured to support measurable progress.

To further enhance learning outside of lessons, I can also recommend high-quality books and resources available through local libraries, helping students to extend their understanding and develop independent study skills. Where appropriate, I can provide guidance on revision techniques, exam strategies, source analysis, essay writing, and effective study habits to help students achieve their academic potential and develop greater confidence in their abilities.
