I begin by getting to know the individual in order to determine what methods work best for them. My methods vary from Pomodoro (focused work sessions — with frequent short breaks), Rhymes, stories or mnemonics (to remember the words being taught) and a quiz at the end of it to find out how the lesson went. I like to use the methods which work best for my students i.e if they find it difficult to write out words we can use flashcards or a range of audio to help them memorise phrases/long sentences. I ensure to use a person-centred approach such as asking lots of questions & making sure my student is comfortable and can comprehend what I am saying throughout the teaching.
