I am in my final year of study for my undergraduate degree in Psychology with Criminology and achieved an A* in Psychology A Level. I have 3 years of tutoring experience in a range of different subjects, including musical theory, combined sciences and personal statements for university applications to successful outcomes.
I'm very easygoing and tailor my sessions to each student's learning style and abilities.
Whether they want to focus on their essay writing skills or understand different psychological concepts or theories, I will walk them through each step using appropriate resources and ensure they have developed a better understanding and are a step closer to achieving their goals at the end of each session.
My teaching style is based on my own education experience; I found methods that worked for me very much through trial-and-error (sometimes this is the best way to discover how to learn for yourself!). Each student is different, and through my own experience, I work with them to find their own style and make learning that much more enjoyable.
After an initial conversation, where I get to know the student (i.e., their goals, learning style and abilities), I tailor each session to them. For example, if a student is a visual learner, I would provide more diagrams and examples for them to look at, in order to develop their understanding of a certain concept they are struggling with. Other methods I have and continue to use are practice questions, active recall and constructive feedback, where the students are active and engaged in their own learning.
I welcome students of all abilities, whether they need to go back to basics, or refine their existing skills to put them over the top!
