My expertise is in European history between the 1500s-1900s. I have taught a class over the Tudor dynasty of England. This class focuses on the political, religious, and personal changes that occurred during Henry VIII’s reign. His personal short comings of securing a male heir led him to make a decision that would change England for years to come. The decision to abolish the Catholic Church, and establish the Church of England brought forth centuries of confessional divisions. It was a decision that would plague the reigns of his three children. His daughter, Mary I, would hold strong in her Catholic faith. She attempted to bring her country back to Catholicism, but it was too late. After her death, she was named “Bloody Mary” which villianized her for centuries. The Catholic mass became outlawed under Elizabeth I’s reign, Mary I’s younger sister.

My other online classes focus on individual women, such as Annie Kenney, and their life in the broader historical context. Annie Kenney came from an impoverished background, and ends up becoming a powerful voice in the women’s suffrage movement. In this class, I like to analyze how the working class and middle class women worked out their differences to fight for suffrage.
