I’ve delivered numerous training and learning programmes for companies and individuals, and one thing is clear: there’s no single best approach. I tailor each experience to fit my students’ unique goals and preferred learning styles, ensuring that every session is as effective as it is enjoyable.

Sessions can focus on broad themes like travelling or DIY, or dive into specific interests such as rock climbing or a particular film. By using real-world content and I making the experience interactive, through desktop sharing for example, we make language learning not only relevant but also engaging. Indeed, I believe in contextual learning and make sure to apply this approach in all my sessions. It is where language comes alive through practical use and real-life application.

Whatever your opinions on social media, there is no denying that they represent a fantastic area of language study. I encourage my students to explore how native speakers communicate in informal settings across a broad range of topics.

I find that language learning becomes more effective when applied to familiar settings. As such I’ve held sessions within online multiplayer games. I’ve held a series of sessions purely on the Reddit platform, starting or responding to conversations about a myriad of topics. I’ve also held sessions where we spent the time understanding non-critic film reviews by the general public. The key here is tapping into authentic contexts that make learning meaningful. Co-watching YouTube videos is another great way to discover vocabulary in action, and students often find these sessions eye-opening and fun.

Ultimately, my goal is to help my students build lasting confidence, communicate naturally, and enjoy every step of the learning process. With empathy, creativity, and patience, I aim to make each lesson a rewarding and uplifting experience.
