I tend to use our first session to understand areas of the subject that you feel you need most help in and also areas you feel confident in.
I tailor my lessons to each student, for instance for students taking exams I focus on teaching helpful exam and revision techniques.
In the interest of expanding my students academic growth, I aim ensure that myself and the student have a good report set up and that they feel comfortable to learn.
