I focus on asking questions to the students, as it simultaneously helps them to uncover knowledge, understand how to think, and therefore build confidence. I would first start off with a practise lesson to gauge their level, and then hone in on the areas I feel they can improve on. I like to focus on close reading/analysis of the texts, as it is the most important skill for optimising learning in lessons and for exam results. Essay planning is an important part of my lesson plans; these greatly help students with structured thinking and textual understanding, and of course are a large part of GCSE/A Level exams.

I am currently on my gap year, having completed the IB last year. I have applied for English and Philosophy at university, and have received offers from Russell Group universities. I have a naturally relaxed demeanour which allows the student to enjoy the lesson as much as possible, allowing for better results.
