I'm a qualified History and Geography teacher with experience both in the private, public, Higher Education and Secondary school sectors.I completed my teaching degree in 2019 and I continued to study afterwards. Teaching online through the Covid 19 pandemic showed everyone including me that through technology no-one is unreachable. As devastating as the impacts on the pandemic were, we learnt the invaluable lesson of technology in ensuring that life continues. We took away the ability to work through the pandemic which enabled may people to achieve the goals they had set for themselves at the beginning of the 2020.
I consider myself a future historian because I plan to pursue a PhD in History in the near future. I love teaching, learning and I also enjoy sharing and imparting knowledge. I believe that through education young people especially women can be given a voice. The Social Sciences field is important to ensure that debates that are interchanging and continuous are never forgotten.
I believe in collaborative teaching and prioritise student engagement as an integral part of their learning which accommodates social participants. Although teachers are considered experts of the subjects they teach, learner centred teaching strategies encourage participation which maximise learning. When teaching I structure my activities and work for the different type of students which include using pictures, graphs and charts for visual learners, music for auditory learners and physical activities for those who are hands on. Group and individual expanded learning opportunities are also part of my teaching strategies.
