I am a university graduate with experience tutoring students throughout my studies. As a result I understand how stressful exams can be, as well as the common pitfalls amongst students approaching deadlines. Below are some of the qualities and considerations I bring forward when teaching:
Qualities:
Goal orientated - we will set achievable targets based on weaknesses, and work together to strengthen these depending your individual learning style.
Collaborative - I find students learn best when they have a voice in their own development, and assist students in finding out how best to learn, revise and organise studies, setting you up well for the future.
Patient and adaptable - I understand students are unique in their learning strengths, weaknesses and learning styles, and will work to find new approaches to learning that best accommodate their individual character.
Teaching focus:
Curriculum content - I will work with you to identify knowledge gaps within the curriculum, alongside any recurring weakness in your approach to content. From here we can find new strategies to instill understanding.
Revision methods - Revising is a skill often lacking amongst students, and we will work to find new methods of practicing and committing content to memory.
Exam competence - succeeding in exams requires more than just knowledge, and equally relies on abilities to quickly understand what questions want, how to structure responses, marking criteria and time management. We will work together on all of these, learning to dissect complex questions into succinct answers that fully utilise your knowledge.
