Hi Miranda. One of the fields I've used trigonometry in, along with linear algebra, is computer graphics, where you would need to do object movement, like translations, rotations, scaling etc.

Hi Miranda, I won't go into some super advanced applications, but take the simplest example - the sin and cos functions help us find the lengths of the right angle sides of a right angle triangle with respect to the length of the hypotenuse. So an example of its application is measuring the distance between the earth and the sun (think about where the triangle forms).

Hi Miranda,
My favourite application of Trigonometry is measuring inaccessible distances. Have you ever stopped to wonder how we found the height of, for example, a mountain? Did we drill a hole straight through the middle? Of course not! We used easy-to-find measurements (like angles and distances on the ground) and then used trig to calculate the height :) You can use similar methods to find the height of your house!
