When adding or subtracting algebraic fractions, the first thing to do is to put them onto a common denominator (by cross multiplying). e.g. 5 - 3 (6x- 2y) (9x-3y) = 5(9x-3y) - 3(6x-2y) (6x-2y)(9x-3y) This is question a on your list hope this is helpful I have not simplified the answer but tried to explain how to cross simplify

A basic rule to remember: when adding/subtracting fractions, there needs to be a commo denominator. Worked Example: 7/9 + 4/6 1) Cross multiply to bring out a common denominator: 42/54 + 36/54 2) Add the two fractions together: 78/54 3) Simplify answer: 1 24/54 Now using these step, we can apply it to your questions you're stuck on. We'll work through a) 5/6x-2y - 3/9x-3y 1) Denominator: (6x-2y)(9x-3y) Numerator: 5(9x-3y) and -3(6x-2y) 2) 5(9x-3y)/(6x-2y)(9x-3y) - 3(6x-2y)/(6x-2y)(9x-3y) = 5(9x-3y) - 3(6x-2y)/(6x-2y)(9x-3y) 3) Simplify! I hope that was useful :)

It's better to use cross multiply method A)5/6x-2y -3/9x-3y. So 5 multiply by 9x-3y and take away 3 times 6x-2y.In denominator multiply of both. So 5(9x-3y)-3(6x-2y) ............................. (6x-2y)(9x-3y) So 45x-15y-18x+6y/54x^2-18xy+18xy+6y^2 So 27x-9y/54x^2+6y^2. Take comman 3 from numerator and denominator (9x-3y)/(18x^2+2y^2).

To simplify the expression: a) 5/6x - 2y - 3/9x + 3y We first need to find a common denominator for the two fractions. The denominator of 5/6x is 6x, while the denominator of 3/9x is 9x. The least common multiple of 6x and 9x is 18x, so we can rewrite the expression as: (15/18)x - (12/18)y - (6/18)x + (9/18)y Simplifying the coefficients of x and y, we get: (5/6)x - (2/3)y - (1/3)x + (1/2)y Combining like terms, we get: (5/6 - 1/3)x + (1/2 - 2/3)y Simplifying the coefficients, we get: (5/6 - 2/6)x + (1/2 - 4/6)y Combining like terms again, we get: (3/6)x - (1/6)y Simplifying the fractions, we get: (1/2)x - (1/6)y Therefore, the simplified expression is (1/2)x - (1/6)y.
