Hi everyone, I'm learning English and find grammar to be particularly tricky. Can anyone recommend the best resources for practicing English grammar? Are there any books, websites, or apps that you found helpful?

Hi Paul, there are many resources that you can try and of course, different things work for different people. One of my favourites is Grammar Monster. I use this with children but I would honestly recommend it to any age group. It’s a website with lots of interactive games and flashcards that you can try. Duolingo is an app that you can download. Good news is that you can practise a little every day, and do it from anywhere, even on the way to work or school. The more points you earn, the higher up the leaderboard you’ll be. However, some people find it stressful or repetitive after about a year, but it’s definitely a good tool to start with. The most important thing is that you read books. It can be absolutely any genre, but the more you read, the more you pick up sentence structures, punctuation rules, etc. At the same time, it is just as important to practise writing, so I would recommend keeping a journal, diary or write short storeis. You can write about anything, and then use online grammar checker tools to find any mistakes and correct them. Over time you will see that the combination of reading and writing makes a huge difference. Finally, watch cartoons - specifically children’s ones. Trust me, I know it sounds silly, but cartoons aimed for youngsters tend to use simplistic language and talk more slowly than the average human person. This makes it easy to pick up patterns in grammar, and you can also speed it up or slow it down as you wish. Good luck! And feel free to reach out if you need any more help.
