8 + years teaching experience as a secondary school maths teacher.

My name is Lucy, I have a first class degree in Mathematics as well as a teaching degree. I am on a career break from my teaching role in Edinburgh and am offering online maths tuition.

I specialise in two areas, students who are struggling with the foundations, who need support in making sense of what they have been taught. I often find these students are falling further and further behind because they haven't got the grasp of the fundamentals and the teacher is 'moving too fast'. I believe strongly in building understanding rather than just memorising. This builds confidence in students and allows them to catch up with the school pace.

I also specialise in 'A' band students who need the opportunity to study the more challenging aspects of their qualification. Often classes aren't able to push those with higher attainment, I focus on mathematical connections, logic building and high complexity topics and exam questions to help students reach their full potential.

I love what I do and take pride in the confidence I can give students which allows them to thrive.
