I help beginners learn fast while fostering a passion for improvisation, composition and self development

Advert description
I'm a Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate with a bachelor's in Jazz Guitar (performance). I've been teaching guitar privately for 7+ year alongside being a tutor at music schools where I teach guitar, piano, drums and bass. I teach beginners the proper technique and create good habits early. I help them to be able to play there most loved songs on guitar and help them understand the theory behind it in an engaging way. Everything we do will be routed in music, when practicing scales I will ease them into improvising along with a backing track, writing their own short melodies using the scale. Meaning there working on their scales, time, technique, improvisational skills all while having fun. Students are always encouraged to compose short pieces using the new chords, licks or techniques they have just learned. This is one of the many musical approaches I use that I believe make my lessons different from many other teachers.

For the more advanced players, I show them to to expand their harmonic vocabulary, show them how to turn scales into music, understand chord-scale theory, improve their technique, improvise and compose. As well as many other things that make them stand out from other professional musicians.

Kevin takes a keen interest towards my lessons and will actively base lesson plans around songs I’m interested in and has no problem helping with whatever I need, whether that is rescheduling lessons or a technique to help with a particular song.
