Advert description
I am a CELTA-accredited English language tutor with nine years of experience teaching at the Language Centre at Leeds University. I have also worked at private language schools in the West Yorkshire area, and I have taught students privately, both online and in-person. Overall, I have a wealth of experience providing an exceptionally high standard of English language tuition to students of all abilities (A1-C2).
Besides my CELTA accreditation, which I achieved in 2013, I have a BA (History and Russian Civilisation), a postgraduate diploma (Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health), and a master’s degree (MMus: composition and performance). I am currently undertaking a second master’s degree (MSc) in Psychological Sciences.
Learning a new language is difficult! English is my native language, but I also speak French and Spanish, with varying degrees of fluency, and I understand the difference that a dynamic and engaging educator can make to the learning process. I’m a strong believer in student-directed learning, so I am always guided by my students’ individual needs and learning styles, and my lessons are designed to be extremely interactive and communicative in nature. I use a wide range of authentic materials and resources in my online lessons, including newspaper/magazine articles, blogs/vlogs and YouTube videos, because I think that engaging with real examples of English is generally far more useful and productive than textbook learning (although textbooks do still have their place!). I enjoy working with motivated students that have a clear sense of what they want to achieve and are willing to dedicate themselves to realising their learning goals.
