English as a Foreign Language Tutor For Students of All Ages (Online)

I am British and adopted from Indonesia where the national language is Bahasa, so I was raised hearing two languages and the different ways people from different cultures communicate with each other. I have a BA in Indonesian and Social Anthropology, which included studying for a year abroad in Indonesia. I have seen how necessary and universal the English language has become to access opportunities in education and the workforce. I am most interested in teaching adults or adolescents, but would be open to instructing students of any age or English ability level.
I believe an important element of learning a language is giving students variety in teaching; for example, making sure there is a diversity in activities and areas of focus; listening to songs as well as book narrations; reading formal news reports as well as social media posts, etc.
I speak Indonesian, Spanish and beginner Turkish. I have also taken short courses for beginner Italian, Javanese and Dutch. I was born in Indonesia, spent my childhood in Singapore, finished my schooling in the USA, and earned my university degree in the UK. I have had a lot of experience as a new language learner and know how various structures, grammar, and syntax can differ and where. I currently volunteer as an Online Writing Tutor and Online Conversation Tutor with Washington English Center. I meet with my students for one hour a week via Zoom, Skype, or Google Meet. As an Online Writing Tutor, I engage in a digital journal, an ongoing email exchange, with my student on a topic of their choice. I provide grammar and general feedback as an appendage to each email. As an Online Conversation Tutor, I provide guidance with pronunciation, vocabulary, and colloquialisms during conversations about topics of their choice. However, depending on the needs of my student I provide basic educational/informational lessons on a topic of their choice. Topics may include but are not limited to: going through immigration at the airport, ordering food at a restaurant etc.
