Highly experienced English (1st, 2nd & foreign language), German & History tutor providing lessons for students of all ages

I am a highly experienced, motivated and organised secondary school teacher and tutor of of English, German and History. My 19-year teaching career has included work at university and school level in Germany, the USA and the UK. Besides my passionate interest in my academic subjects, my investment in my profession is even more firmly based on my desire to create a learning environment that promotes personal and social growth.

I have regularly worked as a private tutor of English, German (and in the early days Latin) since 2004. I have in the course of this gathered vast experiences in working with students both individually as well as in groups.

I strongly believe in basing not only a teaching unit, but also individual lesson plans on the specific academic, emotional and social needs of a student. The lessons rely on various phases and activities, such as introductory phases in which the student is briefly tested on her/his level of confidence and competence in the subject, followed by a "refresher" phase in which knowledge and work techniques are presented and if necessary repeated, which in turn is followed by the core of the lesson, in which the student actively engages with the subject at hand and is supervised and assessed by me while doing so.
