Advert description
I am a native French speaker with a wealth of experience and knowledge who has taught for over twenty years. This includes teaching French from Key Stage 3 to A-Level, as well as The International Baccalaureate, and I have also taught Spanish and Latin up to GCSE. As an active educator, I use my expertise to find out what makes every individual in my care develop and flourish academically and holistically.
Last year, a significant majority of my Year 11 Latin achieved a grade higher or more than their mocks and my French A Level results were also equally very good. This year, my Year 11 class have made very good progress between the end of their Year 10 and their November mocks. I was pleased to see that the grades got better by the January Mocks with the four skills being examined. In Year 13 IB, my student gave a good, solid oral performance and when it was moderated, my colleague agreed with my marking. My student said that we had looked at different excerpts so much that she felt ready to take the oral. It is the same with the written element. Much progress was made thanks to the constant practice we did every week.
Any students I teach are at the heart of the lesson I plan and therefore, I always aim to produce engaging and effective lessons which allow my students to make progress and to reach their full potential. It is important to stimulate their curiosity and I feel I can certainly inspire and motivate the students I would tutor. This leads them to enjoy my lessons and feel confident in expressing themselves. A nurturing, positive and caring atmosphere in my classroom helps children to be more self-motivated and face adversity with a higher degree of independence and determination.
My resources come from a variety of websites and textbooks. A long time ago, I came across the website of Steven Smith, a language teacher and head of department for 30 years. He has contributed to the GCSE which is currently used and has put together some resources for the new GCSE on his website. It is an invaluable resource. I have also read some of the books he has co-written with Gianfranco Conti such as the one about memory, much of it being about the listening skills. I was able to put this into practice and it produced wonder. Textivate helps me to differentiate the needs of the students and put together scaffolding that allows them to feel confident they can
